We've all be chastised by our parents for slacking on our chores, but this girl received an actual bill for not loading the dishwasher.
After a long day at work, sometimes loading the dishwasher is the last thing on our minds - and this was the case the case for 22-year-old Ellie.
She'd been working 10-hour shifts all week long and, upon her decision to skip the chore she was supposed to do, she was berated by her stepdad.
Ellie shared the contents of a jaw-dropping text she received from her stepdad to a friend, where he told the young woman that if she didn't pay $750, she'd have to move out.

Ellie's friend took to Reddit the detail the ordeal to fellow social media users.
She said: "All this time she's been struggling to save money so she can return to school and study programming, but this bully keeps knocking her down for the littlest transgressions.
"Her mother does nothing to help her, and neither do her brothers."
Ellie's friend then shared the astonishing text Ellie received from her step-dad, which she got after she was subjected to a verbal tirade in which her stepdad called her 'fat and lazy and other nasty things'.

The message reads: "Ellie, for this incident to be forgotten, you will owe me personally $350.00 and we will be adding $400.00 to your rent this month.
"We treat you no different from Ben. If you refuse to accept this punishment than you have a week from this Sunday to move out.
"Also in the mean time you are expected to still help out with what is needed. JJ needs to be picked up at 630 tonight. If you refuse to help out you will be out of this house by this Sunday at noon. The ball is in your court I expect answers by the time I get home tonight."

Ellie is said to already be charged $400 a month in rent so, in addition to the fines she'd been slapped with by her stepdad, she would have to pay out an eye-watering $1,150 or move out.
Fellow Redditors were quick to reply and urge Ellie to move out.
"Get her out of that sh**ty situation. Her mom is just as bad as the stepdad for allowing that crap," one person wrote.

"She needs to use the $750 to find somewhere else to live," echoed another.
A third added: "Help her move out asap. Tell her not to give them another penny. They are using her for money and are taking more so they force her to live there."
Others expressed concerns that Ellie was suffering from financial abuse.
But, in an optimistic update, Ellie's chum wrote that she has moved in with her.

"We've safely and successfully moved her into a room in our basement," they wrote.
"She will finally have her own space and bathroom! She says she will go low contact with her parents."
Now that's what I call a good friend.
