Unless you've been living under a rock, you'll have heard of the folklore that surrounds the Appalachian Mountains.

From Bigfoot and The Moon-Eyed People, to other general superstitions, there's some haunting theories about the 3,200 km-wide mountain range and what it's like living there.

Dozens of people have taken to social media to share their experiences, and one women's experience could only be described as terrifying - so much so she had to move home.

The woman is sat in her living room with her dogs, when one of them all of a sudden gets up at starts looking into the kitchen.

"What the f**k is that?" she asked.

In a second clip, there's a shadowy figure loitering by the windowpane next to her front door - but she was (understandably) too scared to open it and see what was there.

Then things get really creepy.

In the third part of the video, a voice - the same as the woman's - can be heard saying 'come here' from another room.

"Heard my own voice calling from the other side of the room... what is this?" she wrote over the video.

The woman was home alone.

An eerie figure could be seen in the window.

The TikToker proceeded to show a disturbing figure loitering in her doorway and, whatever it was, had eyes that were reflecting back at the woman.

Nope.

She wasn't alone in seeing it either, as one of her dogs began starting intently at mirror facing the ajar doorway.

But the most goosebump-inducing video of all was the final clip where the 'thing' could be heard mimicking the woman's voice, and it was like something straight out of horror TV series From.

"Gabe, it's your mom. You should come out," a voice can be heard saying as it banged on the closed door.

"You've been in there for so long."

A shadowy figure could be seen in the doorway.

The woman then proceeded to ask it what her mum's name was if it was really her, but it didn't answer.

In the wake of the video doing the rounds online, people have been sharing the so-called 'rules' of living in the Appalachian Mountains.

"One of the first rules of Appalachia is if you hear something calling for you, no you didn’t," someone said.

"The first rule of Appalachian mountains! If you hear something, it's a FleshRunner," added another.

It's unclear if the clips are real or not, but people online are sure believing it.

In the mean time, if you have a spare five minutes this Halloween and fancy scaring yourself, try searching #AppalachianMountains on TikTok...
