Girlfriend spent thousands and sacrificed her career moving across the country for love to get dumped

Girlfriend spent thousands and sacrificed her career moving across the country for love to get dumped

She spent $7,000 and waved her improv troupe goodbye to move to Texas to be with him

What would you sacrifice for love? Money? Career? Your improv troupe? Well, this woman gave it her all, only for her beau of more than three years to decide they were ‘incompatible’ in a brutal breakup note, of all the ways.

Jillian Lavin, known as Spritely on TikTok, went viral for writing a song about the demise of her three-and-a-half-year relationship which she said ‘blindsided' her.

Singing over a photo slideshow of the couple’s relationship, which racked up more than 2.3 million views, Jillian said everything was ‘going amazing’ until the unnamed 'farm boy' said he wanted them to move from their L.A. home to be closer to his family in Texas.

She quit her career, waved a heartbreaking goodbye to her improv troupe, and forked out an eyewatering $7,000 for movers, she told New York Magazine’s The Cut, in a decision she sang was 'so worth it for the love of your life that wants a future with you / Because he said so'.

However, her ex was clearly not a man of his word, as just two months into Texas living, he handed her a note saying he was breaking up with her, citing that they were ‘incompatible’.

Revealing all to The Cut, the musician said she met her ex in eighth grade as pen pals, but it wasn't until they were 25 that they rekindled the connection - and six months into the relationship, he moved to the Golden State.

However, Jillian said she 'always knew' he wasn't cut out for L.A., so they made the big move to Texas and even talked about their future together.

She added: “I thought we were taking the next step and, in a year, he’s going to propose.”

While spending thousands on the move certainly stung, Jillian said the bitter blow comes from his 'short f*****g note' which simply read: "As special as you are, I just don’t see a future with you, and I’m sorry that I made you move here, but I hope in time, you can forgive me."

Jillian ruled out the possibility of another woman or any other influence, putting her ex's decision down to him being 'out of touch with his emotions'.

Now repairing her 'shattered' life at her mom's house in Florida, she has at least has found comfort in the millions of supporters she's gained from around the world, as many have shared their own tough breakup tales.

The note was on the short side.

She said: “The comments have been very encouraging, and I definitely feel a lot of love and support.

“This has happened to so many people.

“I’m proud of myself for taking the leap and moving to Texas with him. I think that’s a strength, and I think it’s really sad that so many women have been punished for their strength and their faith and commitment to love instead of rewarded for it. It’s a shame.”

While the ex is blocked, Jillian did send him a 'ten-page dissertation on the demise of our relationship', but is yet to hear back.
