One episode left people 'sobbing', while another left people with 'second-hand embarrassment' - but now, the more recent episode of HOTD has left fans with a bad taste in their mouths.
HOTD follows the civil war known as the 'Dance of the Dragons' between named heir-apparent, Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy) and her usurper half-brother, Aegon Targaryen (Tom Glynn-Carney) after the death of their father, King Viserys Targaryen I (Paddy Considine).
And so far, we've had child murders, dragon fights and Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) having numerous visions while at Harrenhal - with one vision in particular leaving viewers 'disgusted'.

In House of the Dragon season two episode five, Daemon daydreams about a silver-haired woman providing countless compliments while they are having sex.
The mysterious woman then tells Daemon how much better he is than his older brother while they are lovemaking and insists he should be king.
The scene is abruptly cut short, however, as the sight of blood reveals that Daemon had been fantasizing about his deceased mother, Alyssa Targaryen.
I mean, ew.

Taking to X, one viewer penned: "Alyssa Targaryen deserves to be portrayed in a way that represents her strength and ability.
"Not as a tool to corrupt Daemons on screen character. She's a strong dragon rider! So frustrating."
A second added: "This was so disrespectful to Alyssa. I'm so tired of this f**ka** haunted harrenhall arc they gave daemon in the show. It's so boring & dragged."

Meanwhile, a third penned: "I cannot believe they showed us Alyssa Targaryen. But in the disgusting manner they did. #HouseOfTheDragon."
A fourth remarked: "The HOTD writers need to be send to the wall for what they just did to Alyssa Targaryen," while someone else called it 'completely unnecessary'.
The scene comes just weeks after everyone was talking about an erect penis shown in a graphic House of the Dragon scene.

In an interview with Variety, director Geeta Vasant Patel praised Ewan Mitchell's approach to the scene.
"Ewan is such a great actor," she said. "He understands what he needs to do in order to portray Aemond. When I spoke with him originally about the nudity, I said to him, 'Let’s just go through the story. If you don’t feel comfortable being nude, then you’re not going to be nude'."
Patel assured she and Mitchell were 'both on the same page' when it came to nudity in the scene, adding: "In this case, Ewan knew his character so well that I was listening to him and walking with him as we went through every episode before this."
