There have been a few L-bombs dropped on social media as fans have completely lost it after realizing exactly what Martin Short said to Selena Gomez while on stage at the Emmys.
The 76th Emmy Awards took place last night (September 15), and while the awards were predominantly shared between Shōgun, Hacks, The Bear, and Baby Reindeer, it was Selena Gomez, Martin Short, and Steve Martin's chemistry that seemingly stole the show.
The trio took to the stage at the Peacock Theater, in Los Angeles, to present the first award of the evening for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series - which Ebon Moss-Bachrach won for his role in The Bear.

But before Moss-Bachrach could get his moment, Gomez, Short, and Martin, who were each up for an award as part of Hulu's Only Murders in the Building, won over the crowd with a hilarious skit.
Gomez began: "What a magical evening it's been trying to remember people's names."
To which Short hilariously added: "And pretending that we've seen their shows."
Martin then joked that almost every actor has worked with Nicole Kidman.

He said: "When I see an actor I don't know, I just say, 'I loved your scene with Nicole Kidman', and nine times out of ten I'm right."
And it just got better and better.
But it was a moment before the trio's skit that touched viewers' hearts.

As they walked onstage Gomez muttered under her breath: "I'm about to fall," likely referring to how she was either nervous or about to trip over in her heels.
To which Short endearingly replied: "I got you baby."
Fans lost it on social media over just how sweet the 74-year-old's response was, as he put his arm around her.

One user took to Twitter to write: "Martin Short saying to Selena 'I got you baby' to make her feel more comfortable on stage oh my gawd I love them so much."
Another typed: "I love that you can hear Martin Short say ‘I got you baby’ to Selena Gomez as they’re walking out on stage at the Emmys."
While a third commented: "This is what I came to look for, he is so sweet!"
Unfortunately, none of the Only Murders in the Building stars managed to land an Emmy, but they definitely stole some hearts.

Short and Martin were both nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, which Jeremy Allen White won for his performance in The Bear.
While Gomez was up for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, which she lost out to Jean Smart for her role in Hacks.
