Fans have same question over ‘super unique’ Kristen Stewart AI influencer movie as new trailer drops

Fans have same question over ‘super unique’ Kristen Stewart AI influencer movie as new trailer drops

Steven Yeun also stars in the post-apocalyptic romance

Kristen Stewart fans have reacted after a trailer dropped for the star's latest movie - a dystopian, AI love story, nonetheless.

Sporting a blonde bob, the former Twilight actress stars alongside The Walking Dead's Steven Yeun in the science-fiction drama, slated for release later this month.

But this isn't your average romance movie - far from it.

Stewart and Yeun actually play a buoy and a satellite called Me and Iam who meet online and fall in love after the end of human civilization.

The pair learn everything there is to know about connection through Iam's expansive database, which recorded how us humans lived.

Customising their own 'human' avatars, Me and Iam then build up an empire as influencers, attracting millions of fans across social media.

Offering us a fresh perspective on AI and identity, the movie uses a blend of live-action, classic animation, and animatronics.

At Sundance Studio last year, Stewart explained: "The movie’s about everyone, all of our projections, fears and insecurities.

"The way we interact with ourselves and each other, the way we present. The negotiation between lies and manipulation and also disparity in wanting to be seen."

She added: "I just looked at [the script] and was like, ‘Oh so I could play everyone in the whole world in this movie, and then really I could only play myself...' "When I watched the movie it’s like everyone I’ve ever met is in it.”

Titled Love Me, you can see the film's captivating trailer for yourself below:

Love Me's unique concept has meant clips of the trailer have been shared widely online - and the feedback online is overwhelmingly positive.

Taking to X, one fan who's seen the movie in advance wrote: "This movie is terrific and super unique. Would have made my top 10 in '24 if it had released!"

A second agreed: "Someone woke up and had an original thought. Love it."

A third weighed in: "We got the live action Wall E equivalent... seems legit something A24 would make."

Responding to clips of the trailer posted to TikTok, though, people were left with the same burning question.

"If there are no humans … who’s watching their channel?" one fan asked, as a second echoed: "So who are they influencing?"

Another admitted: "I'm confused but REALLY intrigued" as one fan said: "oh i am HYPE for this. i love dystopian movies and kristen stewart."

Love Me releases in theaters on January 31.
