The trailer for the second volume of Stranger Things season four has dropped, and we couldn't be more excited.
The decision to split the fourth season into two parts has left fans stewing over the various plot threads left dangling by that incredible ending.
Fans are bracing for a showdown between Eleven and Vecna after the secret history between the two characters was revealed.

The trailer is teasing fans with a dark ending to the penultimate season of Stranger Things, and there are plenty of warning signs that not everyone is making it out alive of this one.
When the trailer contains lines like 'I have this terrible feeling it might not work out for us this time' that should be a blaring signal that certain characters are probably not making it to the final season.

Meanwhile, Stranger Things creators the Duffer Brothers have been firing off warnings to fans not to expect a happy ending to season four.
They've been mentioning that there will be no reset button between seasons, likely meaning the conflict against Vecna won't be resolved in the next two episodes and could carry on to the final season.
Fans hoping that the final two episodes of season four will leave season four 'tied up with a nice bow' are set for disappointment, so at this point it might only be a question of which characters won't make it.

The trailer is promising 'Hawkins will fall' while Eleven has been warned she's not ready to go back and fight Vecna.
It surely can't all add up to a climactic finale where all of our heroes make it out alive and defeat the evil Vecna once and for all, can it?
Unfortunately for fans, it's more likely that season four will have a dark ending set to tug at their heartstrings as a few of the characters they know and love are killed off for real.

We also saw Stranger Things newcomer Eddie Munson grab his guitar for a performance in the Upside Down, and actor Joseph Quinn has been telling fans to prepare for 'carnage'.
He can't reveal what happens to tie up the fourth season, only that he'd like to be called back for the fifth and final instalment of Stranger Things.
The final two episodes of Stranger Things season four are longer than some major blockbusters, with the first episode of volume two clocking in at 85 minutes while the season finale is close to two and a half hours long.
The second volume of the fourth season of Stranger Things will land on Netflix on 1 July.
