Musician has savage response to Rockstar's offer to use band's song in GTA 6 with no royalties

GTA VI is set to release across the globe in 2025

A musician has taken to Twitter to issue a savage response to Rockstar Games' apparent offer to use one of his tracks in GTA VI.

The sixth mainline Grand Theft Auto game was revealed by Rockstar last December, providing a glimpse into the brand new Vice City setting.

It was also confirmed GTA VI would release sometime in 2025, though recent speculation has suggested the next Grand Theft Auto game may actually be pushed back to 2026.

And those familiar with games from Rockstar will hardly see that as a surprise as their last two titles, Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA V, saw lengthy delays.

Nonetheless, as Rockstar gets ready to release GTA VI sometime in the (hopefully) not so distant future, everything is getting prepped.

While we may think the main thing to making a game is, well, actually creating it, the developers also have to think about music to be part of the game.

Well, it appears the UK-based developer has approached British music producer Martyn Ware about having his music feature in GTA VI.

The 68-year-old musician took to Twitter on Saturday (7 September) to claim Rockstar offered him $7,500 regarding the possibility of using his song 'Temptation'.

Ware penned: "I was recently contacted by my publishers on behalf of Rockstar Games re the possibility of using Temptation on the new Grand Theft Auto 6

"Naturally excited about the immense wealth that was about to head my way, I scrolled to the bottom of the email re the offer…"

He continued: "IT WAS $7500 - for a buyout of any future royalties from the game - forever…To put this in context, Grand Theft Auto 6 grossed, wait for it…$8.6 BILLION. Ah, but think of the exposure… Go f**k yourself."

UNILAD has reached out to Rockstar Games for comment.

There's no denying that the excitement for Grand Theft Auto VI is incredible, though a former Rockstar employee thinks fans may be left disappointed when it eventually drops.

Obbe Vermeij, who left the studio in 2009, said on the YouTube channel Saninplay: "I don’t think it’s gonna be wildly different from GTA 5. I think people might be a little disappointed on the first day, but it’s still gonna be the best game out there.”

He added: “There’s some rumors about creating new technology having to do with animation and AI and all that stuff. I think it’s time for a revolution where animation is more so AI-driven and physics-driven.

"If anyone is gonna make that step, it’s gonna be Rockstar."
