After many months of waiting, Nintendo has shared a first look at the Switch 2, however, the announcement has caught people's attention for the same reason.
The first Nintendo Switch dropped in 2017 and instantly became a much-loved console amongst gamers because of the option to play on the go.
Of course, there is also the possibility to doc the console to the tele, but the handheld mode was seemingly very much preferred amongst Switch players.
The console's successor, Switch 2, has been announced by Nintendo today (January 16).

A press release from Nintendo reads: "Nintendo Switch 2 plays Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive games, as well as both physical and digital Nintendo Switch games.
"Certain Nintendo Switch games may not be supported on or fully compatible with Nintendo Switch 2. Details will be shared on the Nintendo website at a later date."
And fans wanting to get their hands on Switch 2 certainly won't have long to wait, as the company has announced a 2025 release date for the console.

But on Thursday (January 16), Nintendo released a 'first-look' trailer for the new console and fans are noticing that it looks awfully similar to its predecessor - albeit slightly larger.
"I’m so glad it looks the same, what’s broke doesn’t need fixing..just some upgrades," one fan posted on Twitter.
A second added: "Holy s*** it’s the same thing," while a third remarked: "Kinda looks the same to me except with the two on it.

Meanwhile, a fourth quipped: "It’s like the other one…but 2."
As well as providing a first-look at what exactly Nintendo Switch 2 looks like, the company also gave us a look at a new Mario Kart game.
The snippet of footage included famed characters like Mario, Peach, Luigi and Bowser, and with Mario Kart being synonymous with Nintendo, it certainly wouldn't be a surprise to see a new game from the franchise launch with Switch 2 later this year.
And talking of games on the Switch, Nintendo has also announced players will be able to try the console prior to its release.
