Machine Gun Kelly admits bizarre AMA outfit was ‘super uncomfortable to pee in’

The rapper turned pop punk singer also took aim at people who accused him of being a 'rock tourist'

In his latest quest to prove it's not a phase, Machine Gun Kelly wore a bizarre spiked outfit to the American Music Awards this weekend.

While the rapper turned pop punk singer certainly looked the part, he admitted that the purple Dolce & Gabbana suit covered in long metal spikes was 'really uncomfortable to pee in'.

Well, at least he didn't trip up at any point during the night.

The 32-year-old – real name Colson Baker – made the hilarious speech after being awarded the Favorite Rock Artist accolade at yesterday's (November 20) event.

"I just want to say I'm petitioning for larger mic stands next time," he joked as he extended the stand to match his height.

"This suit is really uncomfortable to pee in."

MGK went on to say: "Speaking of uncomfortable, there have been some people in the rock community who called me a tourist, but they’re wrong.

"I’m a rocket man. We weren’t born on the moon but we looked at it and we were curious and then we went there, supposedly.

"These last two rock albums for me were me going to the moon."

Although he didn't make it clear who called him 'rock tourist', the rapper may have been referring to his feud with Slipknot's Corey Taylor.

Back in February last year, Taylor slammed 'artists who failed in one genre and decided to go rock' in an interview with Loudwire.

He didn't name MGK explicitly, but he did say: "I think he knows who he is."

Following on from this, the 'Emo Girl' singer tore into the Slipknot frontman while on stage at Riot Fest, saying he was glad he wasn't '50 years old wearing a f***ing weird mask on a f***ing stage'.

Taylor then hit back at Baker by writing on Twitter: "I don't like people airing private s**t like a child," accompanied by a series of screenshots over a failed attempt at collaboration between the pair.

The email exchange showed Kelly had suggested changes to a song on which Taylor was set to contribute.

Although MGK was full of praise, the Slipknot singer responded that he didn't think he was 'the right guy for the track' and wished him all the best.

Corey Taylor hit back at MGK with the receipts.

Things came to a head in September 2021 when the former rapper was booed and flipped off by Slipknot fans during his performance at Kentucky’s Louder Than Life festival.

Whatever the case, Baker still has a loyal following, with many praising his AMA appearance – and his special suit.

"This fit is iconic," wrote one fan on Instagram. "I’m so proud."

"You really nailed it with this outfit," said another, while a third compared it to 'Hellraiser and Beetlejuice'.
