Britney Spears has revealed her future career plans after stating she'll 'never return to the music industry'.
Until 2022, it took Spears a whole six years to release any new music and fans have been eagerly waiting an announcement for her next potential release.
Alas, it doesn't look like the Britney Army are going to be hearing a peep out of Spears anytime soon - if not ever - with the star taking to social media to explain why she currently has no plans to make any new tunes.
Spears teamed up with Elton John in 2022 to release a duet remix of his 1971 track 'Tiny Dancer' called 'Hold Me Closer'.

At the time, the singer took to her social media in excitement, stating: "Okie dokie … my first song in 6 years !!!! It’s pretty damn cool that I’m singing with one of the most classic men of our time … @eltonofficial !!!!
"I’m kinda overwhelmed… it’s a big deal to me !!! I’m meditating more and learning my space is valuable and precious !!!
"I’m learning everyday is a clean slate to try and be a better person and do what makes me happy … yes I choose happiness today."
However, it would seem Spears has decided making her own music doesn't make her as happy anymore.

The star took to her Instagram page yesterday (3 January) to clarify 'most of the news is trash' and fans shouldn't get their hopes up that she's making a new album.
The post includes an image of a painting by Guido Reni and the caption reads: "They keep saying I’m turning to random people to do a new album … I will never return to the music industry !!!
"When I write, I write for fun or I write for other people !!! For those of you who have read my book, there’s loads that you don’t know about me … I’ve written over 20 songs for other people the past two years !!! I’m a ghostwriter and I honestly enjoy it that way !!!

"People are also saying MY BOOK WAS RELEASED WITHOUT MY APPROVAL ILLEGALLY and that’s far from the truth … have you read the news these days ??? I’m so LOVED and blessed !!!"
Fans have flocked to X - formerly known as Twitter - in support of the star but also heartbroken over the revelation she has no plans to 'return to the music industry'.
One X user wrote: "Ik it sad she was so damn good."

"Cue the sad hannah montana transition music," another added.
A third commented: "Heartbreaking but understandable."
And a final hopefully resolved: "Highly doubt that's true, she has so much left to offer."
