A man has been accused of shooting his father in the face over comments he made about his son's 'stinky feet'.
David Carpenter, from Burlington, Iowa, allegedly turned on his father and shot him after the pair got into a 'heated argument' following William Carpenter's alleged comment about his feet.
According to the arrest affidavit as per KWQC, Carpenter claimed to police that the two then got into an argument about family issues, to which his father made an alleged comment about 'shooting him'.

The affidavit says that he reportedly then went to his bedroom, picked up a gun before returning to his father in the living room.
A police statement obtained by Law & Crime said: "David stated that he had the gun behind his back, yelling at William about ‘guns’ when he pulled the firearm out from behind his back and pointed it at William’s face and accidentally pulled the trigger which then shot William in the face."
At the time of the shooting, investigators also alleged that two children under the age of 14 were at home when the shooting occurred, as per The Guardian.

William was taken to hospital, but luckily he survived and his injury wasn't deemed to be life-threatening.
According to the affidavit, police then interviewed William at the hospital where he reportedly confirmed his son's story.
David is currently being held at Des Moines County Jail on a $100,000 cash bond.

This follows an incident from April this year where a man opened fire in a courtroom during the trial of the person who allegedly killed his father.
Francisco Alves was shot dead and in November 2023, a 38-year-old man called Francisco Cleidivaldo Mariano De Moura went on trial for his murder in a courtroom in São José do Belmonte, Brazil.

Yet the trial was interrupted as Alves' 27-year-old son Cristiano Alves Terto drew a gun and began to fire at De Moura, with the entire incident caught on CCTV.
The footage shows the moment Terto stands up from the seating area at the back of the courtroom and despite another person's best attempts to tackle him, runs towards De Moura.
Terto then aims at his father's alleged killer, reportedly shooting at him six times, before chasing him behind the front desk, striking him with the gun three times before he's dragged out of the room.
At the end of the clip, De Moura can be seen slowly getting up from the floor and he is reported as having then been taken to hospital.
