If you’re dating, you’ll know that there are some signs that tell you a lot about your potential partner before they open their mouth, and that includes their drink of choice.
Now, maybe we’re not all going around ordering a boring beer, and we’re instead taking a good hard look at the drinks menu.
But with such an important choice to get right, what’s the drink (or drinks) you should go to if you want to make a good impression?

According to a bartender, your date is trying to impress you if they order one kind of drink.

We all know that dates tend to be in the evening, in a dimly lit restaurant or bar, with mood-setting lighting and a little tipple of booze to get the vibe set.
From a bottle of red, to a sweet cocktail or a hardy ale, there’s a lot to choose from, and getting it right is essential.

Apparently, this bartender can figure you out and whether you’re starting the date right with the kind of alcohol you decide on.
Dojo, a hospitality card payment provider, spoke with alcohol and bar expert Luke Slater on what a customers’ drinks order say about them.
Slater said: “You can tell a lot about people by what they are drinking, it’s much more than just a drink order.”
He explained that those who carefully look through the menu and order the most complicated cocktail are trying to impress someone- a common theme on a first date.

He explained: “These people either love the theatre of it, choosing drinks that come with flames, smoke bubbles, or extravagant garnishes, or they enjoy the storytelling aspect, opting for a cocktail with a rich history or a bartender’s recommendation.

"Some might even be trying to impress, whether it’s a date, a group of friends, or even just themselves, they want their drink to be a conversation starter.”
If they order an Old Fashioned or a Negroni, he shared that the person is ‘confident, a bit particular, and probably the kind of person who likes things done properly.’

He revealed that the drinks are bold, well-balanced, and require precision to get right, which reflects the personality of the drinker’, adding: “There’s a level of confidence and decisiveness, they know what they like and aren’t easily swayed by trends.”
If you’re a whisky drinker, or someone who enjoys it neat, then you’re a person who ‘enjoys the finer details, not just in drinks but in life’, as you have a ‘sense of self-assuredness’.
This is because you’re ‘not drinking to impress anyone or follow a trend’.
Now, if you like a vodka soda, you’re someone who drinks ‘to be health-conscious or just after something easy without too much fuss’.

Then if you like an espresso or passion fruit martini: “These are the people who bring the energy to the group, the ones dancing, laughing, and making sure everyone is having fun.
"They tend to be flirtatious and playful, drawn to drinks that look good, taste great, and add a bit of glamour to the night.”
Yum.
