People have been flooding to social media in horror after a TikToker revealed the price of her Subway meal.
As if the cost of living crisis couldn't get any worse, Subway's sandwich prices are now apparently on the up too.
Gone are the days you could pop into a fast food chain and come away with your belly full and barely a dent in your wallet.

Prepare for a silent tear to roll down your cheek:
A TikToker who goes by the username @beefinnagain took to the platform on Thursday (2 November) to explain she'd visited a Subway restaurant the day before to get two footlong subs.
She says: "I had a coupon $12.99 for two. I go through the line, go to check out, he rings it up normally.

"The original price for two footlongs was $33. $33. Like if I did not have that coupon, I'm pretty sure I would have just walked out and said, 'No, please keep it'. Is that even legal?"
The TikToker has subsequently warned others to only go to Subway if they have a coupon and the caption of the video reads: "What happened to the $5 footlong???? @Subway pls explain #subway #subwayeatfresh #coupon #couponing."
People have flocked to the post in shock over the cost of the TikToker's meal.

One user said: "$33 at subway should get you three foot longs, three chips, and three drinks."
Another claimed: "Yes!!!! I went the other day it was $17 - they’re on my do not fly list."
A third wrote: "At this point who's even leaving the house anymore? Everything is so expensive."
Although, a fourth commented: "I pay $13 for my one footlong and mine comes with EVERYTHING. I'd love to see your order."

Indeed, according to the Fast Food Menu Prices website's page 'Subway Menu Prices' - last updated November 2023 - the prices listed don't quite match up with the TikToker's reporting of a $33 bill for two footlongs.
According to the page, the most expensive footlong on the menu is currently the Ultimate Steak or the Turkey and Bacon Guacamole - both coming in at $11.49.
Subsequently, even if the TikToker bought two of those, the total would come to $22.98 not $33.

Perhaps the TikToker added extra ingredients to her footlongs, there was a service charge or maybe the prices vary slightly by location.
