We're all told that standing up is a good thing for our health, but one man who didn't sit down for an entire week had some surprising effects on his body.
Studies have found reducing or even interrupting sitting by standing up can improve your blood circulation, metabolism, heart health, mental health and even lifespan.
In fact, modelling studies reveal that swapping just one hour of sitting for standing each day can lower cholesterol levels.

One man decided to take it to the next level as he decided on tackling the harder than expected challenge of not sitting down for a week.
YouTuber pigmie did allow himself eight hours of sleep every night, which meant he had some respite from the standing.
But for every minute he was awake, the YouTuber was standing up.

Pigmie explained in the video how 'the average American sits for around 9.5 hours every single day,' so he wanted to break the trend.
For the week's experiment, pigmie purchased a standing desk so he could complete his normal work.
While the YouTuber's initial views on standing was fairly positive, that soon began to change when he needed a number two.
"I felt like things were comfortably moving in the right direction," he said before releazing defecating without touching the toilet is pretty awkward and difficult.

As the week progressed, pigmie was enjoying sleeping increasingly more as it became increasingly difficult to stand.
He began suffering from joint pain, extreme fatigue and even established a poor posture a lot of work from home folks will know all about.
The week was very much up and down, with the pain levels often fluctuating.
At the end of the week, pigmie discovered he had put on around one pound in weight.

While that may come as a surprise, the YouTuber said in the video how he was 'always hungry' during the week.
As a result, he was eating a lot more compared to his usual diet.
Pooing habits were also different, with pigmie revealing: "I felt like my digestion was so much better with more standing up in the day. It just seemed like things got moving faster and smoother."

After viewing a series of before-and-after comparisons, pigmie discovered he had developed a significant upper body slouch as a result of the experiment.
On the other hand, the influencer found an improvement in the shape of his lower spine.
