Actor Kevin Spacey has been charged with four counts of sexual assault against three men, the Crown Prosecution Service said.
The 62-year-old’s alleged crimes are said to have taken place between 2005 and 2013 and the new development follows an initial probe into Spacey’s actions that took place in 2017.
Spacey is now due to appear in court over the four sexual assault charges alongside one other sex offence charge.

According to The Sun, four of the charges allegedly took place in London while one incident occurred in Gloucestershire.
Rosemary Ainslie, Head of the CPS Special Crime Division, said: “The CPS has authorised criminal charges against Kevin Spacey, 62, for four counts of sexual assault against three men.
“He has also been charged with causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent. The charges follow a review of the evidence gathered by the Metropolitan Police in its investigation.”

Last April, a file was passed to the CPS that enabled further investigations to be carried out.
Spacey was interviewed under caution by the Met in 2019. The star was not arrested, however addressed allegations about incidents that occurred between 1996 and 2013 in both London and Gloucester.
The final US criminal case was closed in July 2019 as Spacey continued to deny all allegations made against him.

In light of accusations levelled at Spacey, London’s Old Vic theatre, of which Spacey was artistic director from 2004 to 2015, issued an apology, blaming a ‘cult of personality’ for the theatre’s failings.
When allegations started to surface, Spacey was stripped of both an Emmy award and his central role in Netflix’s House of Cards.
It emerged in November that Spacey had been ordered to pay $31m (£23.2m) to the studio that made House of Cards.

Actor Anthony Rapp was one of the first people to come forward with sexual misconduct claims against Spacey back in 2017.
Rapp said Spacey made sexual advances on him when he was just 14.
Spacey issued a statement in response claiming he didn’t recall the encounter, but he owed Mr Rapp ‘the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behaviour’.
