A petition asking for Amber Heard to be removed from the upcoming Aquaman 2 movie has passed two million signatures amid Johnny Depp's defamation trial against her.
The Change.org petition was started back in December 2019, months after Depp first sued his ex-wife, but the campaign has seen renewed support as further details about the couple’s marriage have emerged.
Last week, an audio recording was played to the jury relaying Heard admitting that she hit Depp.

During his final moments giving testimony, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor told the court that he believes he was a victim of domestic abuse.
The petition reads: “Men are victims of domestic abuse, just like women. This must be recognised, and action must be taken to prevent a known abuser from being celebrated within the entertainment industry.
“Do the right thing. Remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2.”

The petition cites incidents such as an incident where she allegedly punched Depp twice in the face and another instance where Heard allegedly severed Depp’s finger while in Australia.
The petition was created by Jeanne Larson and directed toward DC Entertainment and Courtney Simmons, the SVP for Publicity & Communications for DC Warner Bros.
It caught traction after it was reported by Deadline that Johnny Depp was set to be replaced by Mads Mikkelsen in the Fantastic Beasts 3 film, and has since had another resurgence during the trial.
The petition also reads: “Since Heard's divorce from Johnny Depp, she has systematically crusaded to ruin Depp in Hollywood, repeating multiple accounts of fake incidents in which she had actually abused Johnny Depp, but lied and created false accounts of him being the abuser.”
The trial is centred around a 2018 op-ed that Heard wrote for The Washington Post, where she described herself as a ‘public figure representing domestic abuse’.

The essay didn't name Johnny Depp directly, however, he says it damaged his professional reputation.
When an attorney asked Depp: “What have you lost as a result of Miss Heard making these allegations against you?”
Depp replied: “Nothing less than everything.”
Heard is set to reprise her role as Meera alongside Jason Momoa in the Aquaman sequel, titled Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, and is slated for release in March next year.
