A giant Sasquatch statue has gone missing in Michigan, prompting a police investigation.
The life-sized Bigfoot artwork had been proudly on display in the garden of a local artist when it suddenly went missing last month, with officers quickly called in to look into the disappearance.
According to Michigan State Police, the statue in question is made out of sheet metal and stands at a towering 7 feet tall (over 2 metres.) The ornament is a rusty brown colour, with carved sharp edges intended to mimic the fur of the legendary elusive woodland-dwelling creature.

Given its size, you'd think it would be a pretty difficult thing to steal and hide, however, police confirmed that they believe the object was in fact stolen from St. Joseph County’s Park Township near Three Rivers, Michigan on or around 22 March.
In a statement, they said that the culprit likely used bolt cutters to remove the metalwork from a steel post, before transporting it away in a van.
It's not entirely clear why anyone would be interested in stealing a giant Sasquatch statue, and the object is yet to show up for sale on any auction sites or stores in the local area.

In a Facebook post, the owner of the missing statue shared an image of the unique artwork, and appealed for local residents to be on the lookout.
"STOLEN!!!! [Our] 8' Sasquatch was stolen from our property. Bolt cutters were used to remove him. His edges are sharp and very jagged. He likely did some damage to whatever vehicle was used. Please keep an eye out...I am hoping someone dumps him off."
She further explained that far from being an easy steal, the sharp edges that characterised the object would likely have left their mark on whoever made off with the Sasquatch, writing that in order to transport it 'you need bolt cutters, leather gloves and a vehicle you are willing to have scratched to hell'.

Police have not identified any potential suspects, but said that a white van with tinted windows was seen parked in the neighbourhood on the same day the statue is believed to have been taken.
According to the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organisation, which tracks reported Bigfoot sightings throughout the United States, more than 220 sightings of the mythical beast have been made in Michigan over the years, the most recent of which came the same month the statue went missing. Coincidence?
