Being both colleagues and partners with someone can lead to complications if you're not careful.
But Holland Taylor has ruled out having to deal with any awkward fallout that might result from this situation - with the 81-year-old saying that she 'couldn't imagine' working alongside her girlfriend Sarah Paulson, 49.
The pair took to the red carpet together for the Emmys - where Taylor were asked if she and the American Horror Story star would ever consider working together on a project - to which she revealed that the pair have been pitched 'one or two' offers like this before.

Nonetheless, the Legally Blonde star was adamant that she was not interested in working alongside her girlfriend, suggesting that it undermines the suspension of disbelief because people are aware of the off-screen relationship.
She told Variety's Mike Malkin: “I can’t imagine [working with Paulson]. I don’t like seeing couples doing things because I’m always aware of the coupledom.”
And when it comes to couples who have acted together on screen, there's certainly plenty of precedent.

Emily Blunt and John Krasinkski starred together in A Quiet Place as a couple surviving post apocalyptic creatures - then there's Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise, who were together when they both starred in Days of Thunder.
Though split up now, Parks and Recreation star Amy Poehler and Bojack Horseman star Will Arnett were also together when they played the villainous siblings Van Waldenberg siblings in Blades of Glory.
But, for the most part, Taylor is not interested in pursuing any work with Paulson.
There's could be one exception to this, however.

The actor mentioned the play The Chalk Garden by Enid Bagnold, adding that she could see the two of them working on something like that.
Taylor explained: “It’s a very rarified kind of play."
The play, written in 1955, involves a grandmother, her granddaughter, and a governess and has previously been adapted for the big screen in 1964, starring Deborah Kerr and Hayley Mills.

Recently, Paulson marked Taylor turning 81 on Sunday (January 14) with a post to her Instagram page.
She wrote: “Happy Birthday to my one and only love. You are, quite simply — my world. I love you.”
The couple met at a party in 2005, but didn't start dating until ten years later in December 2015.
There were initial raised eyebrows over their 32-year age gap but Paulson shut down critics back in 2018, telling Modern Luxury’s June issue: “If anyone wants to spend any time thinking I’m strange for loving the most spectacular person on the planet, then that’s their problem.
