Weezer bassist Scott Shriner shares update on wife after she was shot by police and booked for attempted murder

Jillian Shriner was injured in an incident on Tuesday (April 8)

Weezer bassist Scott Shriner has given an update on his wife after she was shot by police and arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

On Tuesday (April 8), Los Angeles cops descended on the Eagle Rock neighborhood after reports of a hit-and-run on the 134 Freeway.

It is believed three suspects fled the crash on foot and into a residential area at around 3.24pm PT and as officers searched for the trio, they found Jillian Shriner, who was allegedly standing outside her home with a handgun.

Cops confirmed Shriner wasn't involved in the earlier hit-and-run collision but reportedly refused to drop the weapon when cops asked her 'numerous times'.

The author allegedly then went on to point the gun at officersm who opened fire and shot the musician's wife in the shoulder.

Jillian was then booked for attempted murder in connection with the incident with the police.

Now, Weezer bassist, Scott Shriner, has given an update on her condition and said she is 'alright' after the shootout.

Speaking outside their home on Thursday (April 10), the 59-year-old told reporters: "She's alright, thank you for asking."

He also took the opportunity to promote his band's upcoming show, adding: "See you at Coachella."

Scott's comments come amid concern that Weezer would have to pull out of the Indio, Californian festival this weekend in the wake of the shocking arrest.

However, he suggested it's business as usual for the Los Angeles rock band that the bassist joined in 2001 to replace Mikey Welsh.

Jillian, who tied the knot with Scott in 2005, was transported to hospital with a 'non-threatening gunshot wound' this week where she was then arrested.

Police say they also discovered a nine-millimetre handgun from home, that she shares with Scott and their two adopted children, after her arrest.

The incident unfolded after a multi-vehicle hit-and-run sparked chaos in LA and a wide-scale manhunt.

One man was allegedly arrested in his underwear while another two men remain on the loose.

Witnesses told KTLA that they saw at least one of the suspects leaving the crash scene on foot.

LA cops eventually caught up with the suspect near the intersection of Waldo Place and Eagle Vista Drive and is expected to be charged with felony hit and run, reports CBS News.

He had also reportedly stripped to his underwear and was attempting to blend into the neighborhood by swimming in a residential pool and watering plants.

A woman who was involved in the crash on the freeway was taken to hospital after suffering moderate injuries.

The other two suspects in the crash, believed to be male, have not yet been found, according to police.

UNILAD has contacted LAPD for comment and Weezer's representatives.
