Authorities have confirmed that they have arrested a man in Hawaii who is accused of attempting to kill his wife while they were on a hiking trail.
Honolulu police went on a manhunt for Gerhardt Konig after he reportedly had an incident with his wife while they walked along the Windward Oahu hiking trail.
The renowned anesthesiologist - who was a doctor with the Anesthesia Medical Group in Hawaii, CBS News reports - was captured after a brief foot chase along the Pali Highway.

Authorities have said the 46-year-old allegedly tried to push his wife, Arielle Konig, off the Pali Lookout trail and also attempted to strike her in the head with a rock around 10 am on March 24.
Arielle alleged that her husband also attempted to prick her with two syringes. It is not clear if they contained anything and if so, what the contents were.
She also told officials that Konig assaulted her before trying to shove her off the trail, and attempted to flee from the scene before being caught hours later.

After the attack, Arielle was transported to a hospital and was considered to be in a critical condition, with injuries to her face and head.
In a bizarre twist, law enforcement told local media that the attack happened after Arielle refused to take a picture with her husband.
Sanoe Kaaihue, executive director of Women Helping Women, spoke of the incident and insisted that domestic violence can occur in any relationship.
Speaking to Hawaii News Now, she said: "Both prominent people in our community. Not just him, but also her. Highly intelligent, highly successful folks.

"DV (domestic violence) does not discriminate. I think time and time again, people are so surprised when they hear that it’s their teachers, it’s neighbors, it’s attorneys. It’s everybody from every single walk of life can be affected."
She added: “What you’re seeing now is an outward expression of the things that they’ve been experiencing within the household.”
Maui Health did confirm that Konig was employed with them through an independent agency, and he worked at various medical facilities across the Valley Isle including Maui Memorial Medical Center. They have since added they have suspended Konig pending an investigation.

A second-degree attempted murder charge is also pending review from the prosecutor’s office.
