An electric car owner has revealed the contrast in how much it costs him to charge his vehicle as opposed to if he paid for fuel.
While one Tesla ended up stuck on a small hill and had to be towed and another struggled to move in heavy snow while other vehicles simply drove past it, there's got to be something beneficial to owning a heftily priced electric vehicle (EV), eh?
Even though one EV owner has slammed his car for its eye-watering 'hidden costs,' branding it 'worthless', another has broken down how much it cost him to charge his Tesla Model S across a period of half a year and well, the results speak for themselves.
Software engineer and 'technology enthusiast' Bilal Sattar took to Twitter to reveal the total cost of charging for his Tesla, comparing how much the electricity cost versus if he was to use fuel.

He detailed: "Six months and roughly 10k miles I've spent only $573 to charge.
"An equivalent gas car at $4/gallon would have cost roughly $2400."
Kindly doing the math for us, he explained he saved a total of '$1,800' - a hefty sum.
And it hasn't taken long for social media users to flock to the post to weigh in.

One said: "Unfortunately that wouldn't apply to a cold climate like where I'm from. It can get down to -42 here. It would require a lot more charging."
"Yes it will likely require more charging especially if you're supercharging. If you're home charging, it shouldn't be too much worse," Sattar responded.
Another user asked: "How much are you saving after adding insurance premium? Electric cars have almost double the insurance cost."

To which Sattar replied: "My insurance for the S is ~$160/month."
And Sattar's savings aren't even the most impressive out there either.
Another electric car owner took to Sattar's post to share their own stats, revealing they 'got [him] beat' but noted they also 'have solar'.

"All the electric cost comes from road trips. 8 months with MYLR," the user said.
The screenshot they shared shows the 'total cost of charging' for their electric vehicle as a mere $106.60 and 'the total cost if [they] were to refuel' with fuel as being a staggering $2,754.41.
They added their Model Y with a Dual Motor covered 12,561 miles.
Although, with electric vehicles costing a fair whack to buy in the first place despite you saving money over time - are you prepared to make the leap?
