George Clooney has shared the sweet reason he didn't think his now-wife, human rights lawyer Amal, would be interested in him romantically.
The actor, 63, married international human rights lawyer Amal, 47, in 2014 and has since welcomed seven-year-old twins Alexander and Ella.
While promoting his Broadway debut with Good Night, and Good Luck in an interview with The New York Times, Clooney touched on his family life and meeting Amal.

"I wasn't really in the market for being a dad. Then I met Amal and we fell in love," he said. "I have to say that, after that, everything made sense."

The actor seemingly didn't rate his chances when he first met his now wife having assumed the age gap between the pair would mean Amal wouldn't be interested.
Speaking of that first interaction, Clooney said: "I was like, ‘Oh my God!’ Then I didn’t really think I’d have much of a chance with her because I was 17 years older and she seemed to have everything she needed."

Clooney spoke to the Hollywood Reporter back in 2017 about his marriage and his first impressions of Amal.
He said: "I thought she was beautiful, and I thought she was funny and obviously smart. She probably thought I was old.
"Then she sent some pictures from when she was here, and we were writing each other, emailing, talking, mostly about what was going on in each other’s lives, and over a period of time it became clear we were more than just friends."
Clooney is certainly not afraid to speak about his family life to the press and he's previously revealed one question Alexander and Ella ask that makes him sweat.

The Oceans 11 actor told E! News in September that while his children understand what a lawyer is, they're not clued up on what he does for a living.

Clooney admitted: “I don’t want them to for the most part,” as he revealed he doesn't know what answer to give them when they ask.
He recalled: “But they did say to me one day when they came home from school, 'What’s ‘famous?' Which we didn’t want to explain."

In the interview, Amal added: “They know you’re an actor. I think. They find it intriguing.”
Clooney explained how he had previously attempted to explain his lead role in 1997's Batman & Robin to Alexander.
He said: “My son dressed up as Batman not long ago. And he said, ‘I’m Batman.’ I told him I was Batman. He goes, ‘Not really.’ And I was like, ‘You have no idea how accurate you are.'"
