Criminal Minds star Shemar Moore reveals he's expecting his first child at 52 years old

Criminal Minds star Shemar Moore reveals he's expecting his first child at 52 years old

The actor was worried that ship had sailed, but is now over the moon at becoming a first-time dad.

Shemar Moore has revealed he's expecting his first child.

The 52-year-old made the big announcement on Jennifer Hudson's talk show and says he's absolutely over the moon about becoming a dad.

He told the host: "On February 8th I'm gonna make one of her dreams come true because in real life Shemar Moore is about to be a daddy."

The revelation sparked cheers from the audience and the Criminal Minds star even did a little dance to celebrate.

Hudson was quick to shower him with a big 'congratulations' and added: "That's news! And your mama is gonna be so proud, smiling at you from heaven."

The anniversary of his mother's death is on February 8, so it will be a big day for the actor.

Moore says at 52 years old, he thought fatherhood might not be on the cards for him.

"I was worried for a while that maybe that ship had sailed kinda thing," he said.

"God had my back. Things lined up. It's going to be the best part of [my life].

"My life is pretty grand but I know that ... once I get this experience, I'll be able to go to heaven whole."

Shortly after the announcement on national TV, Moore uploaded a video to social media showing a gender reveal party he held for the bub.

Moore and his partner Jesiree Dizon were beaming with smiles as a helicopter dropped pink smoke from up above.

Before the stunt, Jesiree said if they were having a boy then it would be 'one and done', however if it was going to be a girl then they might try to have another child.

But, she added that she would be happy with whatever happens as long as the baby was happy and healthy.

"I'm just so excited for this portion of our life together, and it's going to be amazing," she said.

Moore stepped down from his role on Criminal Minds in 2016.

He admitted he needed 'balance' in his life.

During an interview with TV Line that year, the actor said: "I love what I do for a living, I love it from ‘action’ to ‘cut,' but I also want to walk my dogs, travel, get married, have kids.

"I want balance, and it’s hard to do with the schedule that we have."

It looks like he's only week away from getting that moment.
