Josh Brolin has addressed whether he will return for Deadpool and Wolverine.
The Dune: Part Two and No Country For Old Men star appeared in Deadpool 2 as the time-travelling mutant Cable – playing the perfect straight man to Deadpool’s zaniness perfectly.
The trailer for Deadpool 3, titled Deadpool and Wolverine, and it is noticeably lacking in a certain time-travelling mutant.
One Marvel fan posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) to say: “So is Cable going to return in Deadpool 3 or not? Ik all the other main Deadpool 2 characters are coming back but we still haven’t had confirmation whether or not Cable is returning. I hope he is.”

Several other Deadpool 2 characters have been confirmed to return – even some who die in the film – so the fact that a very much alive at the end Cable isn’t in the trailer seems odd.
With Deadpool and Wolverine taking place in the MCU – one possible concern could be about Josh Brolin playing another character in the same universe, having previously played Thanos in multiple films.
While that is obviously worth noting – it would probably be fine if they did bring him back.
Most obviously, one is a 5”10 mutant with grey hair, and the other is about seven foot tall and purple.

Brolin has however acknowledged whether he’s in the film, and sorry to say gang – it’s not looking good.
He told The Playlist who asked him about the fact he was listed in the cast on IMDb: “Am I? Yeeeesssss! I so wanted to be in that movie.
“[Marvel] is a more complex labyrinth than [Brolin's Amazon Prime sci-fi series] Outer Range will ever be, my friend.

“And I will never know where that went or what that is or what I’m involved with or what I’m not involved with —the MCU being involved now. Cable was a lot of fun. I really liked doing that role. That was a lot of fun."
The actor admitted he’s a big fan of everyone involved in the project, despite seemingly not being involved himself.
He said: “Hugh [Jackman], I’m absolutely in love with.

“I know Ryan [Reynolds] now, and I’ve met Hugh a couple of times, and I think when he did Logan—forget it! I mean, Scott Frank, who wrote it, is a good friend of mine and I just think the coming together of [these characters] is just fantastic.
“Hugh, I don’t know how old Hugh is now—is he 56, 57? I mean, seriously, the dude doesn’t age. So, yeah. I’m a big fan of his.”
While all signs are pointing to a big fat no, I am definitely not delusional in holding out hope he still appears in the film. Just a cameo would do Marvel, come on.
