Netflix fans are still binge-watching ‘supernatural masterpiece’ TV series saved by streamer

Viewers say there's 'something for everyone' in the 'incredible' TV series

Netflix fans are only just discovering an 'incredible' TV series which the streamer saved from cancellation back in 2016.

The world's largest streaming service is home to a huge variety of films and TV shows, from binge-worthy sci-fi series to '10/10' crime dramas.

While Netflix is known for its entertaining original series, it's also managed to save a few beloved shows from cancellation over the years - including Cobra Kai, whose Netflix take-over saw it cemented as a cult classic.

Unfortunately the same can't be said for Arrested Development, which ran for three seasons on Fox between 2003 and 2006, before Netflix revived it seven years later.

Its final two seasons were, as fans put it, 'a dumpster fire' - so no, turns out not everything the streamer touches turns to gold.

However, fans of this six-season series were incredibly grateful for a Netflix revival, with some viewers having only just discovered the show recently, despite it ending in 2021.

Of course, we're talking about Lucifer, the series based on the DC characters created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg.

Tell Me Lies' Tom Ellis leads the cast as Lucifer Morningstar, who, bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, moves to Earth, relocating to the city of angels, Los Angeles.

In a bid to get better acquainted with humanity, he runs an upscale nightclub called Lux.

But everything he thought he ever knew is questioned when there's a murder outside the venue.

He starts feeling the tinge of something odd; a feeling similar to compassion and sympathy.

And when he meets detective Chloe (Lauren German), he wonders if there's hope for his damned soul yet.

Lucifer's 'phenomenal' cast also includes Kevin Alejandro, Aimee Garcia, D.B. Woodside, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Rachael Harris and Scarlett Estevez.

And with 93 episodes in total, the series makes for a reliable binge-watch.

Lucifer originally ran for three seasons on Fox before it was going to face the axe, but Netflix scooped it up for another three seasons - which were rated as highly as its first run.

The streamer knocked out its fourth season in 2019, making a chance that went down well with viewers; slightly longer episodes.

The season earned a perfect 100 percent critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, matching season three's rating pre-Netflix.

One fan said of season four: "Quite possibly the best season yet which in itself is high praise indeed.

"Slightly longer episodes give additional scope for plot and character development by the writers and the wonderful acting ensemble."

A second fan described the show as a 'supernatural masterpiece,' adding: "I absolutely love this show! It's got something for everyone: comedy, suspense, and mystery."

A third added that people 'won't want to stop watching'.

All six seasons of Lucifer are available to stream now on Netflix.
