Oscar Isaac is the latest big name to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it turns out he's been preparing for this moment for a lot longer than most of us probably realised.
The Dune star is set to appear in the upcoming Disney+ Marvel series Moon Knight, and making his Saturday Night Live debut this weekend, Isaac shared just how excited he was to be getting his very own superhero role.
'It's kind of full-circle moment' he explained, as he told the audience the first film he'd ever appeared in was a movie called The Avenger.

That's not a typo - Isaac wasn't talking about *that* Avengers movie, but instead a decidedly more amateur flick.
'This was The Avenger, which is a movie I wrote, directed and starred in when I was 10 years old,' he explained. 'It was shot on location in my buddy Bruce Ferguson’s backyard, in our hometown of Miami, Florida. I play a ninja assassin training to fight his nemesis, and we actually have a clip.'
Talking over the real clip, Isaac explains he even made opening titles for the film, which then cuts to shots of a 10-year-old Isaac practicing his martial arts stunts in his friend's back yard.

Check it out:
'Here comes my big stunt, I trained two months for this,' he teases before the film cuts to Isaac snapping a wooden post with his hands.
'Arguably better than the real Avengers, and I made it for half the budget - only about $110 million,' he joked, continuing 'but I took it really seriously - maybe a little too seriously. Like in this scene.'

The clip then cuts to Isaac holding a makeshift sword while pacing angrily through his friend's backyard, as his buddy's Bruce's dad can be hilariously seen cleaning the pool in the background.
That wasn't all, though. Isaac went on to reveal there was even more footage of his time playing The Avenger, including one clip where he plays two characters, one of which is wearing a Friday the 13th style hockey mask, and the other of which promptly draws a sword and stabs the first character in the face, before licking fake blood off of the blade.
'Now you may be asking, Oscar, why are you using your monologue to show us old home videos? And the reason is, it’s important to encourage kids to be weirdos,' he said. 'Because every once in a while, one of those weirdos grows up to host SNL.'
