There have been dozens of interviews over the years where people have claimed OJ Simpson revealed to them that he did, in fact, kill his ex-wife Nicole Brown.
One of the more compelling stories is that of his former agent Mike Gilbert, who confronted him about it one day as he hoped to here the truth - but what Simpson said was far more sinister.
But quickly, let's run through the case.

Simpson earned his status as one of the greatest running backs of all time during his career in the NFL, but in 1994, he found himself a suspect in the deaths of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ron Goldman.
The pair were both brutally stabbed to death outside Nicole's home in California, and a few days after the murders, police announced their intention to arrest Simpson, who had been married to Nicole from 1985 to 1992.
According to Brown's private diary, revealed in a Lifetime documentary, as per the Independent, Simpson was verbally, emotionally, and physically abusive during their relationship.
“Early in 1st year 1977 in San Franciso after his baby died I found an earring in my apt bed on Bedford,” one entry allegedly read. “I accused OJ of sleeping with someone named Teri. He threw fit, chased me, grabbed me threw me into walls. Threw all my clothes out of window onto street [from] 3rd floor. Bruised me, calmed him down.”

After Brown and Goldman's murder, millions of people tuned in to their televisions as Simpson was filmed fleeing from the police in his white Ford Bronco, carrying his passport and a disguise, but he eventually gave up and handed himself in.
What happened at OJ Simpson's trial?
Simpson appeared in court in what was described as 'the trial of the century', where prosecutors presented evidence including blood, hair, and fibres found in Simpson's car.

They also pointed to bloody shoe prints found at the crime scene outside Nicole's home, which they argued matched those of shoes owned by Simpson.
In response, Simpson's lawyers argued that the athlete had been framed.
The trial spanned a total of 11 months, from November 1994 to October 1995. After deliberating for three hours, Simpson was ultimately acquitted.
The murders remain unsolved, but doubt over the athlete's innocence has been cause for speculation among the public, given the evidence against him and his complicated relationship with his ex-wife.

Having worked with Simpson for 18 years, he recalled how one day he asked him: "What happened that night?”
Talking to the film crew, Gilbert continued: "I said, ‘You know, OJ, I always thought you did it'."
Once he said that Simpson sinisterly 'glanced up' at him.
“He just kind of shook his head and he said, ‘If Nicole wouldn’t have opened the door with a knife, she would still be alive,'” Gilbert recalled.

“I didn’t sleep very well that night….So, I quit."
The double murder of Brown and Goldman is still unsolved to this day, and Simpson died of cancer in April 2024.
Despite being found not guilty, Simpson was found liable for the deaths in a civil suit brought by the families of Brown and Goldman.
The jury awarded the plaintiffs $33.5 million in damages following a seven-week trial.
But in the end, the families would fail to recover most of that judgment.
