OJ Simpson was offered 'wild' advice to ensure the infamous murder glove didn't fit, according to a new Netflix documentary looking into his life.
Simpson made a name for himself as one of the greatest running backs of all time during his career in the NFL, but his public image very much changed in 1994.
That's because he found himself a suspect in the deaths of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ron Goldman.

They were brutally stabbed to death outside Nicole's home in California, and a few days after the murders, police announced their intention to arrest Simpson.
During their marriage from 1985 to 1992, Nicole alleged in her diary that Simpson was verbally, emotionally, and physically abusive.
In what is now considered to be infamous footage, Simpson was filmed fleeing from the police in his white Ford Bronco, carrying his passport and a disguise, but he eventually handed himself in.

Described as 'the trial of the century', proceedings took place over a period of 11 months, from November 1994 to October 1995. Simpson was ultimately acquitted and the murders remain unsolved.
A new doc looking into the infamous case has recently dropped on Netflix, providing further details on the murder mystery. Take a look at the trailer here:
American Manhunt: O.J. Simpson is available to watch on the popular streamer now, which comes almost a year on since Simpson died of cancer in April 2024.

One stand out moment from the trial saw Simpson showing the jury a new pair of gloves, similar to those found at the crime scene.
They ultimately didn't fit his hands, with the Netflix doc revealing that Simpson was told to simply not take his arthritis medicine.
The advice was offered by Simpson's former agent Mike Gilbert, who recommended Simpson taking those measures if he was worried about the glove fitting.
Simpson apparently said doing such would lead to his knuckles swelling up, and lo and behold, the glove didn't end up fitting in court.

Having worked with Simpson for 18 years, Gilbert recalled how one day he asked him: "What happened that night?"
Talking to the film crew, Gilbert continued: "I said, ‘You know, OJ, I always thought you did it'."
Once he said that Simpson sinisterly 'glanced up' at him.

"He just kind of shook his head and he said, 'If Nicole wouldn’t have opened the door with a knife, she would still be alive'," Gilbert recalled.
"I didn’t sleep very well that night….So, I quit."
Despite being found not guilty, Simpson was found liable for the deaths in a civil suit brought by the families of Brown and Goldman in 1997.
