The legendary video game GoldenEye 007 is getting remastered and released for the Xbox and Nintendo Switch, 25 years after the original became an instant classic.
That's right, one of the greatest games of all time is making a comeback with original developer Rare confirming the news online.
The GoldenEye 007 remaster will still have splitscreen multiplayer, so you can recreate those long nights of huddling round the TV and shooting your friends.
Rare has promised that the game will be 'faithfully recreated', though this time it'll have 4K resolution and a smoother frame rate.

If you're getting the Switch version you'll also be able to play it online, something you couldn't really do back in 1997 when it was first released.
Meanwhile, Xbox users can enjoy the classic four player splitscreen multiplayer that really made GoldenEye famous, or infamous if you had that one friend who always picked Oddjob – which was totally cheating.
GoldenEye 007 will be released for Xbox Game Pass and Nintendo Switch Online 'soon', so hopefully fans won't have long to wait before they're given a nostalgic trip back to one of the all time greats of gaming.

Anyone with an Xbox who's already got a copy of Rare Replay, the 30-game bundle from the developer behind GoldenEye 007, won't have to pay a penny to get their hands on the remaster as they'll be able to download it for free.
The game's original campaign following the plot of the James Bond movie will still be in the game, though now it'll have a new aspect ratio, and Xbox players will be able to earn achievements too.
Fans were ecstatic to hear the news of GoldenEye getting remastered, with one fan saying if the game was 'anything like back in the day then this is a win', declaring the original N64 version to be 'perfect'.

Another said they were going to 'play the hell outta this', while others cheered at the prospect of playing GoldenEye online.
However, some were worried that the different versions for each console might be missing some features, as right now it looks like online multiplayer will be for the Switch version only.
One person said it was 'not fair' if only one of the consoles getting the remastered game could play online with it, while another said it was 'completely nonsensical' if some fans couldn't get an online version.
Due to be released at an undetermined time, fans eagerly awaiting the return of GoldenEye will be hoping when they say it's coming 'soon' they mean it.
