Britney Spears appeared to reference ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake in a since-deleted Instagram post in which she claimed she had a 'calling from Jesus'.
The two pop stars made their relationship official in the late 1990s and went on to become a staple of the early 2000s, regularly being pictured together out and about and celebrating their stardom by performing together on stage.
The pair announced their break up in 2002, though rumours continued to swirl in the aftermath about references to their respective exes in songs.

Two decades on, Spears appears to have now made reference to Timberlake in the caption of an Instagram post which showed her dancing in a polka-dot dress.
She briefly told followers she liked her new dress before moving on to announce she 'had a calling last night from Jesus'.
"You know what he said ???," she continued. "'Dear child ... your mom had a serving with her book at the exact time when you needed her most ...all for WHAT ??? FAME and ATTENTION !!!!

"Your ex did the same thing ... he served with his first album using your name claiming you did him dirty !!!! Then your blood, one of the hardest times in your life guess what your sister does ... a book too."
Timberlake's first solo album, titled Justified, was released in 2002 just a few months after he and Spears announced their break up. The album featured the track 'Cry Me A River', which appears to describe infidelity in a previous relationship.
Lyrics for the song read: "But you didn't know all the ways I loved you, no. So you took a chance. And made other plans. But I bet you didn't think that they would come crashing down, no. You don't have to say, what you did. I already know, I found out from him. Now there's just no chance. For you and me..."

Though the lyrics do not make any specific references to Spears, the music video for the track featured a woman who shared a notable resemblance to the pop star.
'Cry Me A River' peaked at Number 2 in the Official Charts and played a big part in launching Timberlake's solo career after his involvement in NSYNC.
As well as apparently referring to Timberlake in her caption, Spears makes more obvious criticisms of her mum and sister as she discussed the release of their respective books. Her mum, Lynne, released a memoir in 2008 titled, Through the Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World, while Jamie Lynn Spears recently released a book titled Things I Should Have Said.
