Sandler has been working on his more dramatic roles in the last few years and Barrymore has been making Americans laugh and cry with her own talkshow programme.
Their previous films have erred more on the comedy side of things, so it will be interesting to see what they land on.
Drew told ET Online that they're going to dig deep on what will work best for the audience.
She added: "I know, I wonder the same thing, 'cause I think that is important for us, to hook into it.

"Maybe not be redundant of something we've done in the past, but not try to prove we're doing something different just to prove it.
"It's like an alchemy, you know? And it'll be a little of this, a little of that.
"I will say this: Adam and I seem to really know it when we know it. And we're like, 'This is it.'"
This has been in the works for a while now.

Barrymore was recently asked about whether she'd love to team up with Sandler for another project when she had Rupaul's Drag Race judge Ross Mathews on her talkshow.
Ross said: “I love when people we love in movies, like, re-team for a movie. So, I'm gonna ask you on behalf of everyone: you and Adam Sandler, are we doing another one?”
Drew replied: "We are definitely talking about it. Oh, yeah. For sure,” Barrymore said, adding that: “There's conversations to find the [right movie]. We're actively seeking to find the thing.”

However, she remained tight-lipped other whether this would be another rom-com and instead told viewers: “We're always — you know, I think it's very script/story specific.”
Leaving the audience wanting more, Barrymore refused to say anything else but it was clear her fans are eager for another film with her and Sandler.
