Makeup and beauty influencer Mikayla Nogueira has been accused of faking her 'redneck' accent, having been forced to address the comments in a TikTok livestream.
The US beauty influencer is best known for her makeup videos including get ready with me tutorials and product reviews, which she shares with her online audience of 14.6 million followers.
The star has built up a loyal audience in just three years, but eagle-eyed viewers now believe not everything is as it appears and have called out the influencer for 'faking' her trademark husky accent.

Some detective-style users have managed to unearth a video of Mikayla while she was studying at Rhode Island’s Bryant College, speaking with a very different voice entirely.
Viewers branded what they believe to be her original accent as a 'customer service voice' as Mikayla speaks about her role working at the college campus.
While the video is no longer viewable on the school’s Instagram, it features a younger-looking Mikayla speaking in a neutral East Coast accent as she talks to the camera to say: "I actually work here at the information center, so I’m sure you’ll be seeing me around."

The re-shared video, posted at the end of February, has racked up over 11 million views with many watchers branding Mikayla as 'untrustworthy' as a result.
One viewer commented: "I KNEW it."
Another added: "Mikayla’s Lies Part. Infinity."

TikToker Rachel Leigh jumped in to defend Mikayla as she explained: "We need to start seeing these influencers as entertainers, almost actresses and actors because at this point with their millions of followers this has become their job."
Mikayla has previously addressed her trademark thick accent in a TikTok livestream.
The influencer said it was all down to her roots in rural Massachusetts, claiming she has been mocked for her voice for her 'entire life'.

She said: "It’s not a f*cking Boston accent, I’ve already said that.
"It’s a f****** redneck accent from where I’m from."
The issues around her accent are just the beginning of controversies and questions around the influencer, as she's been previously called out for allegedly faking reviews including being accused of wearing false eyelashes to promote a mascara on TikTok and giving negative reviews for a product she previously raved about on a paid ad.
In one video, Mikayla discusses products she wouldn't rate or buy again and highlights Got2b’s eyebrow gel for some of its negatives as she said: "It’s actually a little hard to get it off."

However last year the influencer apparently raved about the product in a paid review, as she said: "In my opinion… best my brows have ever looked. Period."
UNILAD has reached out to Mikayla for comment.
